President's Message
As we embark upon a new
program year, I invite all of you to join
me in continuing to support the programs and
issues important to AAUW. Also, thank you
to all of last year’s board members
who contributed so much to the success of
our branch; and to those of you who are continuing
in their position or in new ones, I look forward
to another bright and successful year. We
are very fortunate in the Hayward/Castro Valley
Branch to have an active supportive membership
that continues in our goal to attract new
members.
During our Strategic Planning
and Program meetings we planned functions
and events with a variety that covers many
interests. Please mark your calendar for the
events that interest you. Should you need
transportation, please contact me or Linda
Slater and we will see that you have the opportunity
to enjoy the programs with us.
We continue to look to partner
with other community organizations to participate
in and sponsor local events. As in the past,
we are interested in community outreach programs
that will increase our visibility and attract
new members.
It is very important that
you attend the annual membership meeting September
20th as at that time we will approve the budget
for 2006-2007, discuss Shareline distribution
and review the accomplishments and current
needs of the branch. The membership directory
will be available at that time.
A special thanks to Sara
Kaplan, our very dedicated Shareline editor;
she plays an important role as all branch
information is relayed through the Shareline.
There are still some committee positions open
so if you would care to join us, please contact
me.
I am looking forward to
another successful year with a group of women
that are not only leaders in AAUW but leaders
in our community.
